Review by An Apprentice : I thought I was buying top quality?

when i received it, initially i was pretty happy. it could comfortably withstand my weight and it didn't buckle under pressure (handy for lunch). at first glance it was pretty sturdy, the handle was great. the latches were well designed, it doesn't rely on cheap plastic hinges that may snap off or anything. only flaw was the hinge for the lid doesn't look like it will stand the test of time... upon closer inspection, i noticed that the plastic was slightly warped (maybe i received a DUD). the tool box was unable to close perfectly flush, within the designed grooves. i'd have to pull on the right latch towards me and force the lid down just to get it to close properly. i thought, ok.. no biggie, maybe it can warp back over time... then i noticed my right latch is a lot more looser and not perfectly tight as the one on the left. it can keep the box closed still, but it still jiggles in the closed position. i'll probably have to tinker around with it. (i did receive a DUD). besides the two problems i've had so FAR and i haven't even used it. i believe the box should last a year for me, hopefully....

This toolbox is just what i needed.It is rugged and water (rain) proof.It spends it's life in the back of a pickup where it gets bumped, stepped on and rained on. The handle is good and stong and the latches are the best I've seen on a small toolbox. My only wish is that the top tray had more deviders and that the small stuff in the top could not fall through to the bottom under the lift handle. I would definately buy another one.

A sturdy slightly over-sized toolbox that fits everything the weekend handyman needs. The long grooved aluminum handle is easy to grasp, has a good feel and makes carrying this unit comfortable. The interior tray could be a bit heavier plastic and slightly deeper, but that's a minor issue. The double clasps secure well. It would be hard to go wrong with this one.

The box itself is okay, and this would get 5 stars except for 2 things: First is the top doesn't open past 90 degrees. Very annoying, eventually I guess I'll take a dremel to it. Second is the top tray - It sucks. It is split up into three compartments, so if you have something LONG like special drill bits, saw blades, Hammer, Level, etc, you can not fit it in the top! It's sad that you can't buy a tool box like they used to make a decade ago, it's obvious that whomever designed this tool box has NEVER USED A TOOL IN THEIR LIFE! It's pretty hard to mess up a tool box, but everyone these days seems to be managing. I bought this box because I could not find anything better. For carpentry it will have to do until I can find something better. I wish my old box hadn't died, but it lasted 20 years of some serious abuse.

Its a good tool box - not overly large. The outside corners have rubber bumpers whih are a great. The full length handle is also great and the latches are easy to use even with cold hands. The only down side to this box is there are two small plastic knobs which stop the lid opening at just past 90 degrees which open enough to give access to everything and just past vertical so it didnt fall down on you. About a week ino having this box these both broke off which then allowed the lid to open to about 180 degrees - at first I was pissed. Now I like the full opening but Im not sure it is doing a lot of good to the hinge? all Ok up till now though. A word of waning as well the space in the inside lid for a level - if you buy the stanly fat max 24" it wont fit (even though it is supposed to)and yu may need to cut away a plastic rib at each end to allow it to fit..
